Poor bubs with their snuffles, always breaks my heart when little babies get a rotten cold. We can help though! Relief is at our fingertips….
We can have a good go at loosening congestion and mucus in the chest with a hearty but gentle massage all around the chest area. In the video you can see I use a variety of strokes including ‘tapping’ which is very useful to break up mucus.
Delicate and intuitive touch must be adopted when working on the face. I’ve found that babies can’t tolerate much time on the face but some moves such as the strokes from the corner of the eyes down the length of the nose are fantastic for encouraging flow and drainage of congested sinuses.
Working on the feet is my favourite for babies and children with colds.
Take some warm oil and massage it into the feet for as long as you both enjoy it and when you have finished, pop some warm socks on straight after. I have always found this to aid a more restful nights sleep.
I still massage my big childrens feet when they’re poorly. I like to mix a drop of lavender and chamomile into the oil. When they were little babies I used to massage a baby version of ‘vicks’ into their feet, this seemed to work wonders.
Please do fire away if you have any questions and I really hope you can refer back to this post in the future if little one comes down with a cold.
In the next video we’re going to have some fun with Tummy Time!
Stay tuned and see you soon x
